Meet David Oliver
Dave is the owner and head trainer at K9 Obedience Unleashed. He has had a love and passion for dogs since he was a child. Dave grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana before joining the military. He served in the Navy for nine years, and after that, he was a defense contractor for fourteen years. Dave worked his way up the "corporate ladder" and became the Manager of Production Operations. During that time, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management.
After a lifetime of chasing and achieving his career goals, he decided to leave his 9 to 5 career to pursue a career helping dogs and their families live their best lives. He had helped to train many of his friend’s dogs and trained his own dogs in the past. Even before he made the decision to follow his passion, he continually increased his knowledge of dog behavior and dog training through books, and training events/courses. While Dave had extensive knowledge of dogs and training them, he had never trained professionally. Upon leaving his 9 to 5 career, he became an independent contractor for another dog training company. While he was there, he went through their training and became certified to their standards.
It is Important to Build Relationships With the Clients
Dave also learned the business side of dog training. He listened to the clients as they told him what they liked, and disliked, and offered their opinions on how to make the training process more enjoyable for the owners and the dog, instead of just the dog. By doing so, he developed lasting relationships with those owners and decided to open K9 Obedience Unleashed. He has built K9 Obedience Unleashed with all the ideas and opinions of those past clients in mind. Dave's goal was not only to help dogs. But also, their families. To live their best lives, filled with companionship, freedom, and mutual respect. In Dave’s free time, he likes to golf, surf, hike, ride his motorcycle, and spend time with his amazing family and friends.
